I even left the spring out and reset the trigger with my finger, and the pull is still the same as far as I can tell. I don't like "messin" with the sear, other than polishing it a little(which I've already done), but it looks to me that the only way to lighten the pull is to weaken or modify this sear spring, or , yeah, I know, get an RB or Timney. Anyone have any experience with these "NEW" 2013 model 200's ??
Just got a "NEW" Stevens 200 in 22-250. I'm new to Savage/Stevens, but I've done a good bit of reading about them. This rifle is NOT like the older ones. It has a thicker, softer recoil pad, and a different trigger. At first I thought it was probably the Edge/Axis trigger, and would be easy to find info to modify it. The little coil spring that everyone replaces or modifies, doesn't have a lot to do with the weight of pull. This one has a "mouse trap" type sear spring that holds a huge amount of pressure on the "sear/notch" contact point. I replaced the trigger return spring(that's really all it does) with a lighter one, and it made no detectable difference to me.
