If u haven't already started loading for it i'd take a look at the 60 gr. JLK Low DRag--that's probably the highest BC bullet that'll stabilize out of it (.34), and oughtta' get u the best downrange ballistics bang for your buck. Here's what a buddies factory Savage Striker 22-250 did with the 1st 425-yd. gp. working on calculations for reticle only-- The JLK Low Drags have on avg. given me the best accuracy so far out of the 22 centerfires. www.swampworks.com I would also use the reticle for long-range reference instead of the turret at least for awhile, as using that system will teach u more about your optic than turret twisting will. Many guys that just use turret never fully understand how to calculate interpolating between stadia lines or points in a BDC-style reticle--something i consider to be an important part of the system. If the MD is calibrated for a power lower than the highest i'd learn to apply it for downrange zeroing and rangefinding at it's highest power (if it's a 2nd focal plane reticle). This is the only way to shoot groundhogs at ranges approaching 500 +/- with a MD reticle, IMO.
