Alright, here I am. I am a Marine currently stationed in Jacksonville, NC, but will be moving in a couple months. I have three kids; two girls who shoot center-fire, and a boy who just got his first rim-fire. My oldest and I are ardent hunters with any weapon especially our bows. My wife barely shoots, but when she does she out shoots anyone. I am training as a USMC Marksmanship Instructor though I actually do communications work. I hold the highest rifle score in my unit but have never got a perfect card. There is the basics. I joined because I shoot beyond most other hunters' range. I used a 20ga (H&R Ultra) to take a deer at 258yds, my bow at 75yds, my 16" LR-308 at 400yds, and an old 98 Mauser in .257 to take a deer at 650yds just this year. My 16" .223 AR has been used out to 650yds as well on ground hogs. My farthest shot was a 'yote at 850yds using a .243Win a long time ago. I am currently planning three rifle builds. My LR-308 (I hate .308) will be mutated into a .257Roberts. The current .257 will go to another of my old favorites the 7x57. An a Savage .243 I have will be rebuilt as a .260Rem. Since the money is tight, I can only do so much at any one time, but the LR should be well underway by May. Anymore time and money are precious, so I have lost the ability to practice as much as I used to. It has changed a good bit of my thinking on LR shooting too. I plan to see how much of this thinking applies here. I hope to make the most out of the time and money I have. Maybe some good ideas here? There you have it. I am glad to be here and hope to learn allot
