I'm wanting a new rifle in 6.5 Creedmore. It will be a long range target gun and deer hunting beanfield gun. Probably won't carry too far. I'm toying with 3 options:
1. Have the action trued and rebarrel my left hand Remington 700 BDL 22/.250.
2. Buy a savage action, custom stock and a new barrel and put it together myself.
3. Buy a Savage LRP in 6.5 Creedmore.

I would like to stay in the $1000 range. I'm leaning towards the 1st. option, but I'm thinking it is the riskiest of the 3 as far as final results, I have had this gun a long time and would like to keep it, but if I go with options 2 or 3 I will sell it.

I cast my vote for Option #1.

You can later replace your stock, trigger, etc and keep improving.

But, a trued action and quality barrel done right will be a great start.
