[QUOTE="3fingervic, post: 362649, member: 16685"] I was/am in the same boat as you are. I was on a tight budget, and was looking to have some 1000 yard fun. I have a little more hunting/shooting experience, or so it would seem from your post. I'm left handed, so my options were a bit limited. Now, you should decide if you plan to hunt with this gun. Also, what you plan with the gun. If you want to elk at 1000 yards you'll need a .338 mag IMO. Deer type animals can be had .300 mags. If you just want to punch paper there are a lot more caliber options. For a great all around target/ hunting rifle I would go with a Savage 110 FCP-K in .300wm, they can be had for $700-$800. As for glass, there are a ton of options also. I spent $230 on a Vortex Crossfire 8-32x50. EGW base and Burris XTR's were a $100 total. Now obviously there are other choices. Different makers of firearms, models of guns, scopes and mounts. This is one way to go, and not a bad one IMO.:D Here are some pics of the gun and scope.
