I would like to know what loads are shooting well in your rifle. I have read what is listed in the Barnes manual. I will be using either a 180gr TTSX bullet or a 200gr LRX bullet. My rifle is built on a Remington model 700 action with a 26" Shilen barrel (1:10 twist). Thanks in advance.

Hi BWoodie, One of the other forum members suggested looking up a member named AKGuide for this load info - I'm up here in AK too, and looking for info on LRX for 300RUM....

Can't go wrong with either rl25 or retumbo; depending on what flavor powder you like better. I've shot 93 gr rl25 under my 180's in my 300 rum for years. Right at 3280 fps with a hornady in rem brass with 215 primers.

Try 90-92gr of Retumbo, 200gr LRX set at 3.625, 3.650 and 3.675
One of the 3 should print 1/2"
Nosler brass preferred

I'm loading 300 RUM with 180 TTSX for a buddy. We share our 270 Wby load but I went 338/300 RUM aka 338 Edge.

Last week he got a pig at 825 yards. Practice for Elk.

Reverse engineered load recipe that came with the rifle. A Christensen Arms.

IMR-7828, Fed GM215M.

R-P brass, fully processed and neck turned to .0135

3.615 COAL. Seated so the first compression ring groove is exposed and the first ring is about .005 out of the case.

3248fps

Modeled in QuickLoad, perfect match.

My 300rum is shooting Barnes ttsx 180's in front of 100.5 grains of Retumbo
with a federal match primer and remington brass.I'm getting 3385 fps
at 110 feet elevation here in california.Nice round groups.Standard deviation of 25 fps

For the 200 LRX I use 85 grains of retumbo and a gm215m primer. Loaded to 3.662 for .090 jump this load shoots at 1/4 moa and cruises at 3142 ES of 10 and an SD of 5. This is from a 28" PAC nor barrel with a tight neck chamber. Look up 200 LRX and you can see some of my pics on what it does to caribou. Little much, but would be perfect for moose and bear. I used a GM210M in a 220 SMK load to lower es and sd also and had to add a grain more to get velocity back, so this is another option. Just give'em a bunch of jump and push them hard they are generally very forgiving and like a specific powder. I would try retumbo, magnum, R25, US869, and H-1000 in that order. The bc on this bullet is conservative from barnes I would estimate it at .6. Good shooting
