I think ugly is in the eye of the beholder. Mostly it's what the guys with the 3-4000$ imported or custom rifles say when a 400-500$ American made factory Savage puts 3 in the teens and 10 under 1/2". Especially if the savage owner switches barrels/calibers at the bench in 10 minutes and shoots tiny groups again. When I hear "Savages are ugly" It usually translates to nothing more than sore playground banter. I like the looks of most of mine. I mean whats ugly about a laminate varmint stock with an ebony fore end, with a stainless action with a sweet trigger, and an oversized bolt handle, with a jeweled bolt body attached to a 26" stainless fluted barrel that'll shoot 7 you can cover with a dime (the flyer was me all day) for under $600 new?(450$ for this one out the door at a below cost sale ) yeah this ones not a lefty but at that price I couldn't resist.
