Has enough in the horse power dept. to take elk out to a thousand yds if loaded right ( seen it done) and recoil aint so bad even without a break. Or for deer size on down Savage is cuttin barrels for the very impressive 6.5-284. Cant say enough good things about this round. Have one in a custom made rifle that shoots like a dream. Easy to load for, mine likes several different powders, light recoil and most important accurate. I think everyone agrees, all the horsepower doesnt mean a thing without shot placement.
I agree on the sendero, had one in 25-06 that out of the box was a shooter. You didnt really say what size game you might be hunting at med-to long range. If its deer size and smaller you might think about a 7mm Rem Mag. Ive been getting good groups on steel out to 1125 yds with my 6.5. Just a few things to think on, glad to pitch in like the other guys. Good luck!gun)
