I am new to all of this long range shooting stuff. I just started shooting past 400 yards this morning. The only long range gun that I own is a 300 WSM but it is at the gunsmith getting some things taken care of. This morning I was shooting a 6.5 Grendel AR and my factory Remington 700 25-06 with a Hogue full length aluminum bedded stock. I started out at a lasered 425 yards making sure I had the right amount of elevation dialed in and then moved to 500. Every time that I move back further, it seems like when I look down range that I have gone FAR even though I have only gone back 100 yards. After getting the correct amount of clicks up and shooting a group, I then moved back to 600 yards and did the same. All I have to say is what a rush! Its a lot of fun having to concentrate on so many things at once to get an accurate shot. I'm hooked for sure and will probably be spending a lot of money in the future now (THANKS TO ALL OF YOU AND THIS WEBSITE!). Oh yes..haha, my wife will be thanking all of you as well :D. Here are the results with my 25-06. I only worked on groups with the 06 because that is what I will be hunting deer with out to 500 yards this season. Only 3 shot groups as well and prone off of a bipod. 1. 425 yards : 1.75" (3 shots) 2. 500 yards: 2.5" (3 shots) 3. 600 yards: 4.5" (3 shots) Not too shabby for a factory gun with a stock upgrade I thought. All under MOA. Only thing that is going to get me is the wind. If you guys have any good advice or articles that I can read up on or devices that I would need to get in order to help me on this endeavor, I would greatly appreciate it. I know 600 yards is small stuff to many of you but I guess we all have to start somewhere and I had a blast doing it.
