I took a H&R Buffalo Classic 45-70 and reamed it out to 45-120. I added the thickest Kick-Eez pad available, and a recoil reducer in the stock. It's almost 9 lbs and with full tilt loads will get right up with a 458 Lott.

Here's a load about equal to a 458 Winchester Magnum-

Hearing protection as well. FWIW, I have a 20% hearing loss in my left ear from shooting a .22lr rifle indoors for 3 months (500 rounds/week) with using the Sonic II ear plugs for protection so I could hear the range commands. Little did I know that they only offered a 6 db reduction in noise.

Now high pitch sounds (like crickets) can't be heard at all if I plug my right ear.

I have custom fitted earplugs in...but no glasses, I should have.

25 yards offhand-I was scared to fire another and ruin it!

    Sissy - get'r on the bench.

I watched a fella shoot and measured a his 500 meter group on the rams @ bit better than 5" and he was using a tang peep sight on one of those smoke poles. Needless to say I was impressed.

Get'r broke in  . I'll be sending the stuff and the chrony sometime after we shoot the pig. Maybe a week or so.

I hope it brings velocity up a fair amount. Does it have instructions of how to apply? I'm smelling maybe 6000 ft lbs of energy?

    Tyler,
Looks like the best way for you to tame some of that recoil would be to hit the gym!

    HA-HA-HA!
    Just kidding with ya.

Uuuuuhhh, don't lean into it like that and you won't feel as much recoil. :D

You have to lean into big bores if you want to shoot one without taking a couple steps back...

    Tyler,
I know what you mean, I had one of those NEF handy rifles in the short barrelled 10 gauge turkey guns. I've got quite a bit more meat on my bones then you and that sucker would take me a step back when standing and roll me on my back when sitting. It felt more like a shove then a kick.

You should brace you shoulder against a tree or something, it'll put an end to that back pedaling!
