A kid that works for me and is an ex marine sniper and who is going to college full time and can only get part time work so have very little money to burn if any is/was doing the same thing. He asked me for my help in putting together a rig so we could go shooting together. (ulterior motive on my part as I can learn from him) :) We ended up buying a Remington SPS Varmint cheap from a guy that wanted a quick sell for $350. Guns bore looked hardly fired but the outside looked to have been hunted. I had a 700 VSFII with a H.S. Precision stock with the aluminum bedding block which I had just replaced with a H.S. Precision Tactical stock with the adjustable cheek and adjustable LOP. He then found a Tasco Super Sniper very very cheap as someone had painted it and then removed part of the paint and it looked like crap but still works very well and has decent glass and has the mill dot's he wanted. He paid full price for a set of Leupold rings and bases. He also bought a used bipod on the cheap and when he was done he has less than $500 in it. He also has future plans for the rig but for now he can shoot and enjoy himself until he has the money to do more but let me tell you this. That gun can shoot. Kind of makes me wish I had gone that way rather than the way I went. I would be about $1500 ahead right now :)
