Went out this evening and checked to see if there were any coyotes on a dead cow. I decided to take my 3 yo son along with me. Put some ear protection on him and myself as I was going to be using my 6.5 Grendel AR with 100 gr Ballistic tips. Got over to the dead cow and a very large coyote started taking off at a trot. By the time I got all set, it was about 150 yds and on the run. I put the cross hairs on him (He was running directly away from me) and touched off the trigger. The yote dropped so fast that I didn't even see him. I figured that I had hit him because I couldn't see him running anywhere out there anymore. My son and I went to investigate and we found him DRT. This is the biggest coyote that I have ever shot out here in New Mexico. The 100 gr Ballistic tip out of my Grendel dropped him so fast that he still had a bone from the cow still clamped in his mouth! My son did not like to stand next to the coyote very much but he agreed to stand there long enough to get a picture.
