I bought a new mossberg 500 and did a lot of reading like everyone else does on what sabot slug to shoot out of it for the best results my choices were Winchester Supreme Partition gold sabot slugs in 385 gr 2 3/4 12ga 1900fps Remington premier copper solid sabot slug 12 ga 2 3/4 1400fps Hornady SST 300gr FTX slug 12ga 2 3/4 2000fps I started with the winchester and went thru 4 boxes ($60) trying to get on paper first and then trying to get a good group the best I could do was about a 5-6 inch group at 100yds Not what I was looking for. Next I tried the remington and they hit the paper about 15 inches low compared to the winchester and the grouping was all over the 8x11 paper target these got a big rassberry from me but alot of people say they have had good luck with them. then I tryed the hornadys first shot was about 8 inches high off the target so I adjusted the scope second and third shots were almost touching about 1in right I adjusted the scope and the third shot was a bullseye touching shot. Unbelievable what a difference there is in sabots for different guns, so its a trial and error to find the best slug for each different gun. All shots were made at 100yds from a bench and bags with a nikon slughunter 3x9 with BDC scope.
