I had three similar mornings like that up here in Michigan this year. Opening morning I called in the biggest bird of my career, a 24# 11 oz. longbeard for my buddy who had an early season tag. The following Sunday morning I called in a nice longbeard for a kid that I was mentoring as a part of our NWTF Chapter projects at Fort Custer near Battle Creek. His Dad was along for the hunt and it was their first turkey hunt after a few waterfowl hunts together. Their jubilation at getting that bird was like the kid had killed a B&C whitetail buck! Then on Saturday morning, 5/12, I filled my tag with a nice bird up north at my cabin near Kalkaska. I went into the 2012 season wondering what would transpire with such an early, warm Spring and was more than pleasantly surprised at having my best season ever. The season up here goes until 5/31, but we can only take one Spring gobbler, so come on 2013, LOL!!!
