There was mention of a marine, but I missed exactly what the story was.. I happened to be on the other end of the lodge and only "over-heard" Edwin & a couple other hunters' conversation about that-- it came up after "camp" had heard how far mine was killed that day.. so I would imagine what I caught bits n pieces of probably-was the story you are referring to* That area is definitely nice area. I'd consider giving it all another whirl down the road sometime... would REALLY like seeing it during the rut, it's gotta be a total riot when the big bulls start screamin' down that valley! ...would also really like returning for the late-hunt if a guy could. Try for a real monster workin' his way in from the park-side!! ...the only bull (til last week anyway) that was bigger than our two, supposedly went 376" & change (for those who are interested) And that-one did come outta the A-zone as well. He actually was taken a matter of "yards" from where I shot-from. Back-side of that knob. I couldn't imagine what the extra 35" would look like on that size bull (compared to mine) I figured mine looked like a tank..! A 376" or bigger, man o man... I can't even imagine one on the hoof !
