Qual'ed in 70' with the M1a affectionately known as the M-14 and the older I got the more I had to have one so several years ago I got me one brand new straight from Springfield along with 5-20 round mil-spec clips...not the cheapys they don't like to stay in, 2400 rounds of LC ammo and a Blackhawk case...good to go. Living in Hurricane Land and after Andrew and Hugo my wife was more than understanding of spending +3k and my favorite "You Loot We Shoot" Now my son who also spent 4 years in the Corps 93-97 and currently w/FHP was relentless with get an AR-15 and the likes but once he had a chance to play with it, he know thinks I'm crazy whenever I tease him about selling it. I sometimes think it's a generation thing, kinda like the pocket rocket, fart sounding exhaust zippy cars that the younger folks are crazy about...that's until they get around some 60's muscle cars, heck they sounded bad fully stock and right off the showroom floor. Just for those that can remember I was in your average Chevy dealership showroom with my Dad in 1966 he was shopping for an Impala. I saw this Brissling brand new Canary Yellow Vette loaded with a 427 and the sticker price...are you ready $6,400 plus or minus a few bucks and yes I know candy bars were a nickel, some a dime and rock and roll was rock and roll...enough back on track. To each their own and I respect that but, I'll take my M-14:)
