Keep doing your homework. Search the the web using Google, dig real deep. I have been studying this myself and what I have been finding has surprised me.

I have three savages. I just swapped a barrel out Saturday form a 220 Swift to a 7mm-08 in less than 30 minutes. You can buy different bolt faces and change from the 223 to 308. I have own the Mauser action and love them. Savage is the way to go if you like working on your own guns.
