Headed up with tag in hand and my 06. Drew in unit for
both deer and pronghorn country is open and a long shot is
not out of the question. Plan on using a 180 gr bullet for all
will be elk hunting a week later in open country as well
used mainly 150gr in the past but lost meat so thoughts
of a heavier for all hunting.
Rifle is 22" barrel stainless 1-11 twist midweight overall

Since Elk will be on the menu I'd shoot the 180gr Nosler Accubond over a health dose of 4350. I've had better luck with IMR-4350 but alot of guys like the H-4350 , I find the latter powder to be a little bit faster then the IMR stuff.

The 165 accubond would probably be a decient elk bulet if the shots wern't to far and the animal was broad side but it hardly ever works that way so I'd shoot the 180 Accubond

start with 54grs of powder and work your way up , I've found that just about every factory gun I've loaded for in 30-06 like the the bullets right at or just bumping the lands with a charge of 55-57grs..
