I have one. It was my first rifle. Mine is a 30-06 with a synthetic stock. I put a Nikon Prostaff on it in 3-9x40 and hunted 2 years with it. My Tikka is now my primary deer gun, but on nasty days I take the Marlin.
Mine needs to be free floated, but I just haven't gotten around to it. One side of the stock is touching the barrel. It's been reliable, but I take good care of it too. I always take the action out of the stock if I've been hunting in the rain. Everything gets dried, cleaned & oiled.
It's a good gun for the price.
