The pictures you posted are exactly as this rifle is.

The spent cases are formed to the weatherby chamber now, with the double radius shoulder.

So now the question is, should I be hesitant to fire weatherby ammo in it now?

No, the rust does not extend over the crown or into the barrel.

As noted before, I'd check the chamber with a scope of some type, or have a gunsmith do it as they probably own a borescope. If it looks good I would not hesitate at all.

Actually, you could probably shoot it as-is, but as soon as you think that... oops.

rodnocker, the whelen brass is made from necked up 06 brass. that is more then likely why you found it formed that way vs somebody shooting 06 cartridges in a whelen chamber
