    Hi

What's a good flat shooting long range calibre that I can use out past 500m for deer and north american game and will still be capable (and legal) in Africa for the big thick skinned game. I wont be shooting lion, or hippos or anything like that but definitely buffalo.

    Thanks

I don't have any experience with hunting Africa, but I would say you wouldn't want to go with anything smaller then a .300 win mag. This is a nice flat shooting round that will easily take you out past 500m. With some good stout loads I would think that it will perform on African game as well.

first check the reg's for the country you will be hunting. most have a minimum requirement for buffalo and other large game, some .375, others 9mm or larger. THEN pick the one you want, a good .375 H&H is capable of 500 yd. deer and elk shots.
