Was thinking of working up a load using the skm for my 300 win mag wanting to go 180 grain to 200 grain bullets. Rifle is a ruger 77R tang safety that I have had since I was 16 years old. what would work for this set up? oldfamily

I've never been able to beat Sierra's recommended 200 gr MK load for the 300 WM.

I use 69.4 grs of RE 22, GM 215 Federal Gold Medal Match primers, at OAL of 3.48". I get 2850 or so PFS.

It makes ragged little holes at 100 yds, and has dumped deer in their tracks to 1000 yds.

Im starting to get around to liking the smk. at least out of my 6.5. I was shooting some 190's out of my 300win and had a few run away. That was when I was younger and had really bad buck fever so it could have been my fault. Try the 200gr. accubond or the match king's. Berger might also be worth giving a try.

I've had the best luck w/ H4831 when pushing the 180, 190, and 200 MKs. W/ 73 grains of H4831 lit by 215 GMMs in R+P brass it produces 2900-2920 at 12-15 feet from the muzzle. Prints tiny groups, the 190s group the best in that particular rifle but, the others were around 1/2 moa as well. May want to start at 70 grns and work up.

Good Luck
