The 11 twist will stabilize a 180-190 but I wonder how it will do with a 220gr in the real world. My dad just got his new one in 11 twist for his 300WSM, but he's only shooting 168-190s. Hmmm...

Howdy Brent

The 1/11 Lilja has no problem stabilizing the 220 gr. matchking out of the Wolf.

Brent,
I've fired up to 220gr Sierra MKs out of a 12 twist barrel with a 308 Baer chamber without a problem. That combo loved the good lot of 200gr SMKs we had at that time and the 210 JLKs. We has some great groups with the 220s using the original lot of R22 when it first came out but you realy had to stand on the load to get it to group in that rifle. Opened up primer pockets in 1 to 2 loadings so it wasn't feasable to continue testing. But they cut good holes at 400yds while testing for 20-30 shots I'm guessing.

So your Dad should be in good shape with the 11 twist even at the reduced WSM velocities. Especially the 190-210 class bullets should be a no brainer really.

Steve
