Leupold quistion

    std rings says to make initial windage adjustment using the screws on the rear base . Will this not torque the scope bad?

    Use never seize on the front dovetail if you use a
    windage adjustable rear base this minimizes torque
    on the scope and prevents galling of the dovetail.

    I stoped using the adjustable bases because of cap
    screw failures and switched to double dovetail or
    rail type bases. The newer scopes have a lot of
    windage (around 40 MOA or more) the old scopes were
    about 10 MOA and sometimes needed an adjustable base.
