ladder test. do you see any potential

so went out to do a ladder test today and im not sure if it means anything. i cant get anything productive out of it..

numbers on photo are powder charge, there are more 43 as i was using them for sighters
velocity and runout
42= 2475 0.04mm
42.5=2502 0.10mm
43= 2550 0.07
43.5=2633 0.11
44= 2589 0.11
44.5=2627 0.06
45= 2671 0.12
45.5=2678 0.05
46= 2721 0.08

Seems weird to me that the 46 and 46.5 charges went into the same place (vertical) as the 42.5 and a couple of the 43 grn loads. Perhaps its due to a change in harmonics or "barrel whip"?

Almost appears to me that the test needs to be done at a further distance if possible...??

Without shooting at further ranges, I'd stick with the 46-46.5 loads and shoot some 3-5 shot groups and see if their acceptable for what you're after (assuming that they weren't over max pressure)

Something else that can be done is changing your seating depth on the 46-46.5 loads and do another test with varying seating depths........just an idea, it may not be needed depending on your accuracy requirements.

I use the ladder test as a starting point for load development in every rifle I fool with. That latter looks to me like one shot at too close a range.

The more accurate the rifle and shooter are the farther the ladder test needs to be shot. I usually do them at 400-500 yards.

I would go with a load between 45 - 45.5 because those 2 rounds are on the same rung of the ladder and do some more shooting in that load range to find the perfect load.
