Anyone on here use Kowa spotting scopes? Ever hear of problems with the warranty with them? What is your opinion of hem. Thanks for any and all input.

According to the bird watchers the 88mm prominar model is as good as it gets. I haven't been able to find on to try yet but I think it's what I'm going with this fall. I haven't found a single negitive review anywhere. I had heard the florite crystal lens was more fragile but had it clarified that it was just harder to grind and polish but not more fragile. The bird watchers are the most demanding of their optics as they not only want clear but color fidelity also.

I have one and I would give up my dog before I gave up my 88mm prominar.

Thanks fellas. Based on input so far, here and on the "theopticstalk" forum, it seems that everything about them seems to be good. The only aspect I haven't received comments from users on so far is dealing with the company on warranty issues. Are they supportive like swarovski and leupold or are they a royal pain like leica? To me this is a very important consideration.

Not having heard any concerns with warranty issues may be an indication that they have few problems. Thanks again for all the input. Al

I think that sums it up. not only are the products good, but durable. In all reality, the Kowa is considered by many, including myself, to be the finest spotting scope out there.

The prominar is by far the brightest scope on the market when compared to the big three. I went with zeiss for the price with the rebate they had but it leaves a little behind when compared to the prominar.

I have a 774 straight.WHich is a 77 mm,the glass is great and I went for slightly smaller size,as I figure it would fit my needs.Right now I only have a 30 wide eyepcs. It covers same area as my leupold 12-45x60 on 20 and is much brighter and better at low light.
