hi guys.
l have a ww2 kar98 mauser in 7.9 mauser(8x57) the action is in verry good condition. do you think l could get a good tacticl stock and a suitable barel for this to build on? and just wondering if l could make that action work with 300wby mag?

Before starting your build, you should pay attention to the manufacture date of the rifle. The German mauser '98's made in 1943 and after are known to have suspect heat treating of the receivers and should be hardness tested before having any work done on them.

If you have determined that you have a buildable receiver, you will find a lot in the way of parts available for your mauser. Bell & Carlson, in particular, offers quite a variety of stocks for the '98 mausers. Suitable barrels are easy to find as well. I have had good luck with the pre-threaded and chambered barrels offered by MidwayUSA. There are other choices available too.

.300 Weatherby will be too long to fit in a mauser action, but a .300WM would work if you modify the bolt face, extractor, and feed rails.

Good luck with your build!

we have heeps of them here in the vilages. the one l have is in very good condition but the accuracy isnt so good with normal hunting bullets. it shoots 1moa with those white bullets for some reason. thats why l wanted to get a new barel with it. and thinking of it l think when l build it lm gonna build it in 8x57 (7.9 mauser) so l dont have to do anything to the action. the rifle is in my hunting lodge so cant send you any pics right now. but cant give the rifle to you cause l live in TURKEY.
