Obviously not everybody reads every thread and post. In the past we have had many cases where initial complaints about a vendor/supplier turned out to have been handled less than ideally and the issues were quickly resolved by the correct communications.
The cases where real problems have been brought up on this site vs. the cases that were handled improperly are very minute in comparison. In an effort to eliminate the very definite possibility that someone's reputation could be wrongfully harmed, as well as many other reasons, the rule was put into place.
The initial post has been edited to remove the complaint and leaves Len's posting of the site rule. Not everyone may like the policy but then not everyone foots the bill for the site and then spends time correcting instances that never should have been brought up in the first place. If you have an issue with a supplier etc. deal with them in every way possibly before deciding to "take it to the net". Words that are typed and put on the web are there forever and, like mentioned above, reputations can be irreparably damaged if all avenues of communications are not taken first.
