I am 14 years old and want a new deer rifle. I really like the caliber .308. I would like some information about the caliber. If anyone had one the want someone to take off their hands I'd be glad to hear about it.

Thanks, CoyoteKid

Coyote,

The 308 is excellent for deer, but depending on your size for 14 maybe to much recoil. I started my sons on the 308 and 30-06 but reloaded them to reduced (youth) rounds and slowly worked them up to full power loads as they grew up. If you know someone (like your Dad) who reloads, I sugjest using H4895 starting at 60% of listed max charge for the bullet weight. This isa good load out to 150, maybe 200 yards. Get a Hogdon manual or vist their site. Good hunting!
