Went here this evening to look at the elk. It was my first trip. Approximately 12 miles from the apartment.
This is it w/no magnification on the Cannon Power Shot:
This is it w/full zoom on the camera:
If you look real close there are specs in a long horizontal line on the left side about 7/8 of the way up. Them is elk. I didn't see this until I prep'd the pic.
I counted these and more to the left till I gave up. There were as many bulls as cows. I saw no calves. May still be in calving areas??
Here's a 16X shot.
Here's a ~48X shot of a couple of big fellas.
Came back and Google Earth'd and guestimated range was some where around a1.5 Miles.
If a fella had a sufficient rifle to make the shot w/enough energy to do the job, how much scope would be needed to make the shot? Just dreamin' here"
