I'm going to start a Poll on this topic but sometimes I like to first have a thread with the same question to help me zero in on what the Poll reply choices should be.

So, let's define it this way.

    1. With rifle only, no scope, no mounts, no sling, no ammo and no bipod.
    2. Same as above but add in scope and mounts.

    List the CARTRIDGE, too please.

After I get a clear look at the range of answers, I'll start an official Poll on the same topic.

Kevin, what optics are you using? The 32oz 56mm NXS and the 16 lb Idaho limit are killin' me but keeping life exciting.

Hmmm ... don't know and I'm not changing the configuration to find out. How about asking the weight of the rifle as it is employed in the field?

What possible use is it to know just the bare rifle weight and cartridge name?

    How about:
    typical terrain
    typical wind conditions
    typical shooting distance
    typical carry distance
    barrel specs
    bullet specs
    brake specs
typical game ( elk or prairie dogs)
    typical transport (feet or jeep).
typical shooting style (offhand, bipod, bench).

To me rifle weight only indicates the practicality of carrying a rifle, and even that depends on the terrain. Of my various rifles weight says little about their useful range or accuracy or even delivered energy.
