Last year I missed a deer at 200yds with a rest(heavy trigger got the best of me, but that's what happens when you don't shoot ahead of season and aren't familiar with your rifle) New Timney trigger this year! I also killed one of my best bucks ever a few years ago offhand at 225yds(with a different rifle). I've missed a pig at 35 yds and killed them running at 200, and missed deer at 100. My first deer I ever killed I missed the first shot at 175yds, but it came back out and gave me a 2nd chance which I didn't waste. For some reason deer don't want nothing to do with me when I have a bow in my hand, but as soon as I pick up the rifle they want to sit in my lap. Killed a lot of them at archery range with a rifle. My largest at 40 yards. My furthest hit was 500yds, but I guessed it to be 400 and only broke the leg. Farthest kill just under 300 on a speed goat walking. It happens. Planning on trying a longer shot or two this year, my stand is set up to allow it. Deer, hog, or coyote. Whatever will hold still long enough!
