I am looking at purchasing a savage heavy barrel HMR 17.
What kind of mistreating do you have to do to erode the throat or shoot out the barrel on a HMR 17?

A local gun shop has a new 93R17 and a used stainless version of the same gun for basically the same price as the new blued gun.

The SS gun looks like it is in excellent condition, but I have no idea how the gun was treated/shot. Is shooting out the barrel or eroding the throat with this caliber something that is even reasonable?

I tend to lean towards new purchases, but if this SS gun that may not have have been treated the best but has not have suffered the consequences that a larger caliber would have I'll jump on the used SS one.

TIA

I would buy the stainless one
I have two marlins I have been shooting for over 10 years now.
I shoot them alot really alot I have thousands of rounds through them.
They still shoot great
mine have had alot of abuse with no soghs of a problem
