If it's a 30 you want, I happen to like the 300 Weatherby Mag. You can Hot Load it to handle heavy , tough Bullets at high velocities or dial it back to shoot like a 300 Win mag. All as you choose to do. Although Mine has the old 1979 mag na porting on it . I would get a real Muzz. break if I were tunning one today. The Accumark version uses the # 3 barrel S/S Fluted 26 inch which adds some weight and make it even more comfortable to shoot. This is an old target from 1991. 77.0 Grns of H 4831, (Pre SC I think.) My Weatherby Mark V has the wooden stock, and is bedded, and has the Magna port, on the 26 inch BBl. This is 180 Grn Sierra GK off a rest at 100 yards . Shoots ok for a Hunting Rifle . I think even at lower velocities of 2800 fps its Just fine for practice and fun at the range. Also nice for long range deer with a 150 or 165 wt Bullet. Increase the load or use a heavy partition bullet for Elk or Moose. Although I am a big .270 Win and. 270 Weath. Mag fan, its nice to have this big 30 in the safe. I think I have one more Elk Hunt left in me. Look at all the ballistic tables from 300 H and H to 300 RUM and this old war horse still stands the test of time. Something to consider!
