I'm a shooter and tinkerer. My education is Engineering and Business, I work as a project manager for a tech company (thus Gun Geek)
I'm in my 40's, been shooting since I was 8 or so, but I've been serious about it for about 10 years or so.
Up until the last 2 years, my shooting has been focused on competition stuff (USPSA, IDPA, Highpower). A friend got me started hunting whitetails here in KY, and I've had a great time with it.
I shoot Savage bolt guns because I can tinker with them - change calibers, etc, w/o spending tons on gunsmithing.
I've been handloading about 9 years (right after I figured out how much this sport cost). For the handgun stuff, I spent just as much $$, but shot more. For rifle calibers, it is the ONLY way to go - accuracy, cost, control...
Lastly, I'm tuning up for an Elk hunt next fall - I'm learning about bigger calibers, and longer range shooting.
Glad the site is here! What a time to be alive!!!!
