I have done load developement in a 25-06, 7 STW, 338 Edge, 300 WM, 300 JAZZ, and all my rifles had lower extreme spreads and better velocities with the Retumbo, except the 338 EDGE, which liked H1000.
There are a lot of guys here that use SMK's for hunting. A great many are using the 300gr SMK in .338 for long range hits on elk and deer, me included. Do some searches and see how many people are hunting with them. This subject has been debated in depth so I am sure you will be able to find more than enought threads to read.
