I am going to try reloading 162 A-max and 168 Bergers in my 7mm RM. I have read numerous good things about H1000 for these rounds but they have almost all been with a 26" barrel. Does anyone have any experience with this powder in a 24" barrel or have any recommendations for a good powder?

QuickLOAD 3.6 suggests you will lose 60 fps going from a 26" to a 24" barrel with a max load of H1000 and a 162 A-MAX. This makes sense as heavy bullets don't usually suffer as much velocity loss with a slight barrel shortening than light bullets.

I load for 4 7mm rms, a 24", 2 26", and a 28". The 26s and 28 does great with H1000 and 162 or 168s and the 28 likes 180s with Retumbo as well, but I get horrible extreme speads in the 24" with H1000, velocity is great, but its all over the place due to not getting a full burn. Some have good luck with H1000 in a 24" barrel, but I get the best all arounds results with H4831sc with velocity avg of 3032 with 162s. It does well in the 26s as well but is not a good choice for a 180grn bullet.
