I got my hands on some shells from the new lot # 300514 of H-13 3.5" 7's. Shot them this weekend and I can confirm that Hevi-Shot has corrected the problem that existed in lot # 3004_ _. The pattern density matches that of lot # 3003_ _.
I have sample wad pictures (below) from lot numbers 300325 (good), 300488 (bad), and 300514 (good). You will notice that the first wad has an indentation on the side that is obviously different from the last 2 lots.
The difference in the last 2 wads is so subtle that is takes more than a casual glance to see anything. It looks like the markings on the bottom of the wad are slightly different. It also looks like numbers are stamped on the bottom of the lot # 3005_ _ wad, but they are very small and very hard to make out.
Getting shells from the new lot number is another issue. If you buy online, few distributors are willing to give any guarantees on a lot number. I found one that will, but I had to call the order in. Be careful until all of the lot # 3004_ _ shells are sold.
