Gun Stock, how to add wood to one

I have an ADL remington stock, and I want to make the forend wider? After all the clear coat is taken off the stock what do i use to glue the new wood to the old stock? What do i feel in the gaps to smooth out? What is the best paint to paint to paint the stock?

Since you are going to paint the stock. I would just use Bondo to build it up. As for paint, I have used Duracoat and it holds up quite well on a stock.
