I am curious about how this compares to the 12-40 GR/Mark IV.

I have the Mark IV 12-40 and it does great up to 30 power. After 30 the image is degraded, but useable. I personally like having the reticle in the spotting scope for accurate communication between spotter/shooter. "Impact 1 mil right and 0.5 mil low." Shooter adjusts and if the conditions are the same it should go "ding" or "flop".
