Gathering parts for a build

I am just starting to gather parts for my first custom long range rifle build.

I currently have a Remington Sendero 300 win mag but would like to step up to a 338. I will keep the 300 as is.

I would like to build either a 338 Edge or a 338 Lapua. My first purchase will be the action. I am thinking of Kirby's Raptor, Surgeon or something from Defiance or Borden.

Looking for input on the actions I have listed. Has anyone got experience with the Raptor yet or is it to new to have guns out there?

I was thinking of buying the action and stock and then turning them over to a gunsmith. Good idea or best just to save the money and have them do it?

There all real good choices. Kirbys would be my choice as its is built by one of us for what we do.
