Please help me. I am an old dog (actually an old retired US Marine) trying to learn some new tricks. I need to exterminate some Alabama wild hogs that I can no longer get close to and since I am new to LRH I need some advice. My rifle is built on a Win Classic CRF ss action with a magazine length aprox 3.02" and is .300 WSM. My barrel is very near 26" measured from the face of the action and is a 5R 1:11.27 twist. I have 2 scopes: IOR 2.5-10x 42mm illuminated MP8 in standard IOR tactical rings and a 16x 42mm MP8 in double width rings, and IOR 20 moa base. I got a Choate U.S. stock just to get it out in time for last deer season and decided not to order the McMillan after 1 bench session. Considering my twist rate, what bullet would be best for wild hogs and whitetail and could also be used for elk? The hogs are generally well under 350 lbs. Those 600 lbs boars only exist in some mighty tall tales. My rifle does best at 600 yds with SMK moly 190 and Speer moly 168, sub 2" when I go out with my attitude and environmentals correct. The SMK 175 is almost as good. Would the SMK 200 be likely to shoot with my twist barrel? Should I even bother to try the new Accubond, if I can ever get any? It's length is reputed to be 1.480", BC .588. Has anyone here used Bergers on game? I did not get any but Berger info says at least the 190 VLS should shoot. A 1:12 twist is recommended for the 190 and 1:11 for the 210 VLD. Many thanks in advance for any help you can give.
