It has been a very long process but I'm very pleased that it's completed and I get to go shoot it for the first time this weekend. I began the process in November 2011 and took delivery of the rifle Sept. 19, 2012. During that almost year timeframe I debated calibers, cartridges, triggers, stocks, barrel makers and on an on. I orders compents and waited for delivery. I researched builders and interviewed a couple. I kept a journal of every phone call, email and decision thinking that it might be fun to post it once completed but in the end its over 10 pages long - never expected that. Now that my buddies elk hunt is over I finally get to go shoot it. My goal was to build a solid western game rifle primarily for Coues Whitetail and Antelope and should the draw gods be kind to me a sheep hunt someday. Here are the details: .264 Win Mag Rem 700 action Timney Trigger set to 2.5lbs Lilja barrel -#4 contour flutted, 3 groove 8" twist, cut to 25" McMillian Remington Mountain Rifle stock with edge technology Harrel tactical muzzle break (for my young son) Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 w/target turrets Cerakote finish - Desert sand Barrel and Desert Sand and Black Webbing done by Eddie at Fosnaugh Customs Gunsmithing done by Mike Bryant at Bryant Customs in Wheeler TX. I own a couple of "premium" factory rifle and I can tell you there is absolutely no comparison the fit and finishes on this rifle are amazing. If it shoots half as good as it looks and feels I will be thrilled. Here's the before and after pics. I'll post up my shooting results once I've done some breakin and load development. Thanks for all the many researched threads...they were a tremendous help.
