Other than my original thread on bolt action rifles and commenting on other threads occasionally, I've stayed pretty much out of the discussion, rather staying on the sidelines and examining the issues as they really are...

I've studied the Sandy Hook school killings in detail, comparing news accounts, witness statements, statements from 'professional' people on the scene, video footage, basically everything I can access.

There are so many discrepancies as to what actually occurred and what occurred that I feel the citizens will never know the truth of what actually occurred.

Some glaring contradictions are a statement from a teacher saying she saw multiple 'shadows' of gunmen running down the hallway, the local ME stating that the children were killed with .223 rounds but no rifle was found in the building, only 2 handguns (and we all know that a bottleneck cartridge don't fit in a straight wall chamber)...lol. Then in what I consider a an outright lie perpetrated by the LE on site and the media is the video footage of an officer supposedly clearing an AR found in the trunk of the Honda the shooter drove to school. On close examination of the video, it isn't an AR at all, but rather a pump shotgun. An AR's cocking-decocking lever is under the ejection port, not the fore stock. The officer is racking the fore stock, clearing the rifle of shells....

Of course the general public has no idea of the difference between an AR (assault type rifle) and a pump shotgun, the public will buy into whatever the media and LE tells them, if in fact true or false. That fact has been played out time and time again in recent history. Sadly, we live in a society where the citizens (a large part) need to be led around and spoon fed. They don't have the capabilities of thinking for themselves, or don't want to....

After taking a long look at the whole scenario, It's my opinion that while the children were indeed killed and thats a sad state of affairs. the incident is being used by the Obama administration as a vehicle to dilute the Second Amendment and to orchestrate what amounts to a 'gun grab' perpetrated on the citizens of this country for the sole purpose of disarming the citizens so Obama can advance his agendas unfettered. Obama has stated numerous time in the past that "We need to take full advantage of every crisis". This is one of those situations that is being exploited to the fullest.....

I received this from the NRA this morning....
Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newton from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

We were disappointed with how little this meeting had to do with keeping our children safe and how much it had to do with an agenda to attack the Second Amendment. While claiming that no policy proposals would be “prejudged,” this Task Force spent most of its time on proposed restrictions on lawful firearms owners - honest, taxpaying, hardworking Americans.

It is unfortunate that this Administration continues to insist on pushing failed solutions to our nation's most pressing problems. We will not allow law-abiding gun owners to be blamed for the acts of criminals and madmen. Instead, we will now take our commitment and meaningful contributions to members of congress of both parties who are interested in having an honest conversation about what works - and what does not.

Pay close attention to what I've bolded in the context. Again, IMO, this amounts to nothing more than a gun grab by the current administration to advance their agenda. Without the ability for citizens to defend themselves against aggression, all is lost. exactly what this administration is desirous of.

I personally feel that we as citizens of the United States will never know what actually occurred in Newton because the facts of the incident have been twisted and manipulated for the sole purpose of advancement of the current administration's. agenda, that is, disarming the citizens and creating a socialist state where the government decides everything for the 'good of the people'. Never forget that.

All of us, as legal firearm owners need to follow Jeff's lead in writing our elected officials and openly (and legally) disapproving, especially disapproving of any dilution of the Constitution or executive order pertaining to the Second Amendment, the First Amendment or the Fourteenth Amendment.

If, this agenda on the part of the current administration becomes law, our sport, our firearms, even this forum will be under attack. There will be no 'freedom of speech'. In fact, forums and interaction such as we have here, will cease to exist because it will be policed and eliminated systematically.

Sound familiar? It should. Hitler perpetrated basically the same scenario on Nazi Germany. Mussolini perpetrated basically the same scenario on the Italians, the list goes on and on. What you need to always keep in mind is that every Socialist utopia has ultimately failed and the citizens have suffered unimaginable grief.

There is a whole lot more to whats occurring than just a gun grab on the part of the Obama administration. It's ultimately about oppression of the citizens, Socialistic agenda and ultimately totarian control.

The current events are just a prelude to the end game, merely a stepping stone for the Obama Administration to advance it's agenda, always keep that in mind....

I beg you all, for the sake of our sport and for the sake of our great country, be as pro-active as legally possible. Talk to everyone you know, both pro firearm and anti firearm alike and explain to them what the end game really is. The only way to defeat this tyrannical approach by the administration to dilute our rights as American Citizens is in solidarity in numbers. Please act and do it now.

We must unite as a whole. I talked earlier on in another post about the 'me' versus 'we' mentality. This has to be a 'we' action. Me has no impact whatsoever and the current administration is counting on the 'me' mentality to prevail on this.

Above all, under no circumstances, become a martyr. Active disobedience will be dealt with swiftly and the consequences of your actions won't be pleasant..

My suggestion is to support the NRA, not because I'm a member but because the NRA is still the largest lobbying body, has the most members and has the means at it's disposal to advance our wishes, that is, for this administration to pursue the obvious choices, choices that don't dilute the very tenants of the Constitution, that is deal with people through the judicial system and mental health and pursue ways of reducing violence perpetrated against children and against all citizens instead of using this incident as a 'gun grab' to advance an agenda..

    ...back to reading posts....:)

    Sidecar,

I agree with everything that you have written in your post and have been trying to become more proactive. Last night I wrote CNN new in an attempt to relate what is going on to an attack on their (and mine) beloved 1st amendment. I wish I had saved the letter, but I unfortunately did not before I hit send.

I asked how they might react if someone told them that their news articles could only be 500 words in length, and if they were not allowed to write on some topics at all.

I also described to them how in my state of Nebraska we have an annual high school state trap shoot in which nearly 1300 students 6th-12th grade compete and shoot hundreds of rounds at clay targets. I explained that there have never been any injuries at this event and the reason is because these students are not only aware of guns and the safe way to use them, but have also been taught to respect them and others by their parents and coaches.

The letter was rather lengthy and very professional. I would hope to get a reply, but I doubt that I do. It was simply my attempt to educate the uneducated. We will see what happens.

I think we all need to take steps like these to spread our message. What do you guys think?

    Joe

And that Jeff is the problem, for those of us who are of the Baby Boom generation my self included for the most part we can see through the smoke and BS because we have been around served in military fought in wars and know the way things are supposed to work.

But for the ME ME generation who are there with there hands out waiting for someone to spoon feed them be it pablum,or news they are gonna travel right down the gilded road that has been laid for them by by the media and the present administration, as evidenced by the past election. Sadly it is going to be up to the ones with common sence to work towards stopping the direction this country is headed, at times I fear it may be to late. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail in Congress. We all need to be on board this train, otherwise it may very well be a train none of us want to board.

I have been writing letters for weeks now it really isn,t to hard go to www.congress.org and contact all of your represenatives in congress do it daily.

So many good points from all so far. I've been writing and sending letters (the old fashoned way) for the last few weeks; one, two several each night. I've started to get the polite mechanical responses so I know they are getting there. Now we'll wait and see if they are doing any good. In the meantime, I'm still writing.

What is frustrating for me is fighting from two fronts, both federal and state. And it's not looking good at all from the state level. I may have to sell and move West.

Please keep the good posts coming as I find them informative and an inspiration when all one hears here is bad news.

    Thanks all

    Pete

The Truth Behind the Sandy Hook Massacre....The Left Used Tragedy for Renewed Call for Ban on Assault Weapons
Nothing makes the killing of children any less horrible, but it now turns out that there was no “assault rifle’ involved in the Connecticut shootings. Maybe you have seen this in the mainstream news. But I have not. It does not fit the narrative of the left , that used this tragedy for a renewed call for a ban on assault weapons.

    PLEASE SPREAD THE TRUTH!!
So they finally had to come out and admit it, now that the Coroner has
released some info along with Police. An AR-15 Rifle or the so-called
"Assault Weapon" was not used in the school shooting.
The shooter even tried weeks earlier to buy a Rifle but was turned down
in the background check. So he had to kill his Mother to steal her rifle.
There were initial reports right after the shooting, that Police found the
AR-15 Rifle in his car, NOT IN THE SCHOOL. The Rifle was not used.
The Shooter went into the school with 4 handguns.
Not an Assault Rifle as the media has charged.
I remember in the initial hours of this shooting, the Police said
they found the Rifle in the car. But the News Media had a Pre-Planned Attack
already waiting, to ban so-called assault weapons and jumped on that
line of reporting, knowing it was a lie. Including people like Piers Morgan
who said the shooter used an AR-15 that shoots hundreds of rounds per minute,
as if it were a machine gun.
Could it be that the Democrat Liberals and the Media were pushing for the
new law, hoping they could do it, before the Coroner released the info. I'm betting on it.

The media misinformation and scare tactics...What a pile of crap! Sadly, there will not be any retractions or apologies made about the attacks on assault rifles.

    Thanks for the link!

I brought this very same thing up a few weeks ago actually I think it may have been with sidecarflip that an Ar was never used but it was in the trunk. That came out hours after the shooting by the next day he used an Ar. The freakin media makes me sick. Lucky for them they have the 1st Amendment to hide behind. Can't wait to see if this new info comes out. I'm not bettin on it.

There is no doubt in my mind that Obama has always fully intended to advance his gun control agenda. He is a master manipulator and spent his first term setting the stage for this attack on the 2nd Amendment, America in general, and everything that has made this country great.

Look back to his responses when questioned about gun control. He never gives direct full answers. He was, and still is, trying to back door us through the UN Small Arms Treaty. He does not believe in our Constitution except when it serves his purpose.

This is a hunting site, and many here may feel that they don't have a dog in the fight. But you do. We need to stand together, the hunter, the plinker, the competitive shooter, the collector, etc. all need to be busy writing our elected officials, joining & supporting the NRA, GOA, NAGR and even more importantly talk to your friends & family members about what's going on. Especially those that don't hunt or shoot. There are only +/- 50 million gun owners in the US,
that means there are in the neighbor hood of 230 million potential gun owners out there, and we need to educate and recruit as many as we can.

They might only be talking about black rifles, semi-autos, and 'high' capacity rounds now, but that can change quickly, especially if they have any success with the current proposed controls. It's happened in many other countries across the globe. Let's not let it happen here.

From the NRA this morning in my in box......

"The Obama administration is seeking to institute a far more sweeping gun-control agenda than simply reinstating the failed Clinton bans on "assault weapons" and "high-capacity" magazines.

While the administration seeks to ban whole classes of firearms, a working group led by longtime gun control supporter Vice-President Joe Biden is also seriously considering proposals for a national registration database to track the movement and sale of all firearms, and much more. (Please see related story on congressional proposals below.)

After meeting with gun ban activists on Wednesday, Biden said, “This is a problem that requires immediate attention. I want to make clear that we’re not going to get caught up in the notion that, unless we can do everything, we’re going to do nothing. It's critically important that we act."
Biden went on to open the door to the option of imposing restrictions unilaterally.
"The president is going to act," said Biden. "There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken. We haven’t decided what that is yet. But we’re compiling it all with the help [of] the attorney general and all the rest of the Cabinet members as well as legislative action we believe is required."

When it comes to attacking our Second Amendment rights, this administration will pull out all the stops.
These proposed actions are not simply another rehash of old, failed strategies. This is an all-out attack on the Constitution and the rule of law. This is about the wholesale destruction of gun rights in this country. This is about destroying everything the NRA has done over the last 20 years. The gloves are off and we need to face the challenge squarely—RIGHT NOW—EVERY ONE OF US! Every gun owner, every freedom-loving American--whether an NRA member or not--needs to take action. Gun sales have gone through the roof, but buying guns is not a political strategy. If you've just bought guns, magazines and ammo, now you need to invest the time in doing what it takes to keep them."

Maybe it's time to consider IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS.

Obama is an elected official. Being an elected official, he can be removed from office for not upholding the laws of the land. This (on Tuesday) will be a clear case of just that, if, he directly attacks the Constitution. Who the hell is this guy anyway?

The choices will be clear on Tuesday, not only for firearm owners but for the entire nation. Always keep in mind, this isn't just about firearms, it's about the very foundation this country was built on the Constitution....

Obama is desireous of nullifying the Constitution and running the country his way, the Socialist way......

He always has been, now he has the vehicle to advance his Socialist agenda.

It's very alarming what we (as a country) have digressed to.....

This isn't about 'winning' or 'loosing'. It's about preserving our freedoms that our forefathers wisdom granted us as American Citizens.

    STAY FOCUSED
