I will be taking 130lb deer and smaller (TX Hillcountry). 500-600yds max

I want to know what the best factory ammo choices are for long range.

Very little research has brought me to look at Winchester Silvertip, Hornady Superformance, and HSM (115gr VLD). Currently, I'm shooting Federal Sierra Gameking (but don't have any preference)

Is HSM loaded more accurately since it is sold as "long range ammo"?

Are there other options for precision long range type hunting ammo?

All advise welcome. I'm a bit of a newbe with the long range work. Thanks

It depends in large part on whether it agrees with your rifle.

All of the ones you listed are worth a try. HSM would be a good start.

If it groups well at 100 yds, you'll need to try it at and beyond the longest range you plan to hunt. You'll want to practice a lot to be sure that it doesn't shoot one lucky 3 shot group.

The problem with factory ammo tends to be lack of consistency for long range.

There may also be large variations between lots.
