This is my Mod 70 Win Black Shadow in 7mm Rem Mag with factory 26" bbl. Scope is 4-16x50 mildot with new 9-13" bipod. I have it zeroed for 300 now and hope soon to get out and get the zero out to 500 or 600 with my Hornady Hvy Mag 139 SST ammo that I like so well. Weight as equipped is 11.5#. I'm sure after I hike the plains a day with it that it will feel like 35#:

I tried to figger out how to post foto in my message instead of a link but couldn't find the info. You know how it is when you want something you can never locate it and any other time you're tripping over it.

Thanks.

Lets see if I can't get the pic posted. How's it shoot?

It shoots very well but have only shot it to 300 so far. I'm shaky so my groups need work, but I dont miss. I need to get out and do some long range shooting( 500+). I can say this, it's VERY effective on mule deer.

Thanks much for posting the foto in the forum. I appreciate the help. Usually my posts die for lack of interest.

Ammo's getting to be a prob for this. My sources for Hornady Heavy Mag 7mm 139SST have dried up. I may have to reload some and try to get close. And I need to get out and long range it which I hope do next month as I was accepted in to a local shooting club with a 600 yard range.

Hi there, if you are going to get in to reloading consider the 160 accubond and 162 a-max. They have a much better BC than the 139 sst.
I use both in my 7mm mag and have had very good results. All kills have been one shot, DRT, ranges for 160 accubond 50 - 300 yds, 162 a-max 358 - 638 yds.

Stu.

I got out again to shoot the thing at 300 yrds last week at high noon 95f and light wind from my back to the target. First group was about 6" but all shots were on the target high and right. Then I shot a 4", then 3", 3", and 3". I let er cool between groups but at 95f it didnt cool much. Next range is 425 yrds and I'll try that soon. I hope it'll be cooler and maybe I can be less impatient and let the barrel cool more between shots and between groups of three. The Center Point scope performed flawlessly. After I conquer the 425 it's off to another range to try 600. I thought this club I joined had 600 but it dont, but the 600-1300 club is only 30 min drive. 600 will probably be my limit, but may whang a few at 1k just to see if I make a hole in the paper. I'm thinking maybe a Hart barrel for it next yr, if I dont blow my bonus on a sstl 338.
Thanks for kind help.

Silvertip,

Cold demin. water with a funnel and small tygon hose will cool the barrel much faster.

I don't think it hurts a thing.

Also, I'd give consideration to Berger 168s.
