Today I had the time to run out to Mac's Gunworks and shoot his new creation.
Put 25 rounds through it, from the prone position, with my typical one hand hold.
Lawton action, McRee stock, McGowen barrel, Lawton picatinny rail, Mac brake, Cerakote camo, Vortex Razor HD 5-20 Scope, Vortex Rings. All the work was done by Chuck McIntosh. The cartridge is one of Dave Viers. Take a 408 Chey-Tac and partially neck it down to .375 and make a false shoulder, fireform it and you have a 375 Snipe-Tac. Jamison brass, 150 grains of H-50BMG, and a 370 grain Rocky Mountain bullet. What a cool combination.

    ernie,

    Holey good squat!!!!!

Is that load safe to shoot in fire season? :D

How fast does that load push that bullet?

Is the recoil distance much more than an inch or so?

It would be nifty to have a 375 AM LRH rig and a 375 AM Speciality Hand Gun.

    Whoooo Hooooo.......

That definately redefines the term Hand Cannon!! Very nice looking rig.

Which reticle is in your Razor and how do you like it? Vortexs' shop is only about 45 min. up the road, but I've been afraid to stop in for fear of coming out $2500 poorer.

    Ernie,

That thing looks awesome. I have been thinking of building a SP on a Savage action. I pretty much want it to look just like that. The thing I haven't decided on is the caliber. I was leaning toward 7 Rem Mag because I already have the dies. My thought behind the SP is that it would be nice and small for sheep and goat hunts. What do you think of the 7 Rem Mag?

    Have not chronoed it yet.
The amount of travel backwards is dependent on how strong of a hold you have.
First time touching it off I had a firm grip-didn't move that far back.
Second time I had a lighter hold and it came more than twice as much. No, I didn't get bit.

Nothing wrong with the 7mm Rem Mag.
Personally, I lean toward the 7mm SAUM or the 7mm WSM.
I like the short fat cartridges.
If I went with a longer 7mm cartridge in a specialty handgun it would be the 7mm Dakota.

    wow

    How long is the tube?

I am really curios as to the velocity possible with that.

That is a phenominal amount of power in not a very large package.

    Barrel length is 20 inches.
Talked about going 18" but since we didn't know of anyone doing this yet, we knew we could shorten it later if needed.
    Have not chronographed it yet.

Chuck ordered the barrel from McGowen and he went with a little faster twist than normal, since we were using a short tube and had never done this before.
I honestly don't know, which is really weird for me to say.

I wish you would have told me about this gun when you called the other day, I would have gotten stock in the powder company.
Good talking to you, sure do miss WY and all the great people there.
