[QUOTE="sp6x6, post: 603548, member: 21869"] They just had the wolf guota, as wanted to extend in Bitteroot, in todays paper.I agree that it is not all wolf, but it was the straw that broke the games back. It is hard to have 3 apex predators. I have hunted my lifetime in wilderness areas, so I usually see the least affect, no roads hike in hike out. But since the wolf I have not seen game numbers down so much. I also have had slow work and the time to spend an average of 60 days afield the last 3 seasons. This season was shortest w/42 days and +15 wolf, and I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE.Cut 7 fresh tracks one day, and had them howling. The wolfs run the high counrty, up with the cats and highest grizz and they are a game changer since they cover so much ground. I had a grizz tag in early 90's and it was shut down from DC judge, I always took it for granted that I COULD HUNT ONE, now I never will. 2 years ago, son and I saw 5 grizz on opening bow, my personal record was 13 one day.The wilderness get virtually no cat hunting because of access.3-4 YRS. ago I was seeing elk numbers coming back in the high country to what I remember. Not now.I only shoot mature animals and pass that on to my son, he could have shot cows but he wanted a bull, and worked for it.
