Any one every hiked in and hunted? How is the deer population and what was your experience? Just thinking about doing it some time would like some feed back

Used to pack in and hunt Seneca Rocks area and the Canaan Valley area. Quit a few years ago as the deer population took a dive.

Hunted there about 10yrs. ago, didn't see anything. Area I hunted was really flat up top, I wouldn't recommend it.gun)

I've been hunting around that area for 20 yrs.the deer population has really gone down hill bad. Alot of the locals blame the coyotes and bears for the decrease. They did have a few bad winter kills a few years back. I've never seen it so poor. Coyotes everywhere. One evening hunt I saw 8 different bears. Its a shame how bad its gotten.

Dolly Sods is a very unique and beautiful place. Fantastic place to hike and backpack. Deer hunting would be very tough right now but excellent for bear. heh
