what the ballistics are on a .17 HMR compared to a .22 LR? Which one is better for Varmint hunting?

Neither one has a proven track record for long range hunting. Now the 22 Hornet or 218 Bee, that's a horse of a different color. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

dont know if it matters much up to 80yrds. Just today I dispatched of a chuck at about 50yrds with a 22lr. The 17hmr is better the farther you go out though. I think I might get a 22mag some day to try it out. the HMR is supposed to be good on yotes to. I tried and it didn't work but I have also shot them with a 22-250 and they run away. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
